String Along Ukulele is run by Elayne and Norm Ruplen.  We have been teaching adults to play the ukulele since the early 1970s in the Hamilton, Ontario region of Canada.  Check out the “About Us” page.  Our philosophy is to teach adults (and kids), to play the ukulele for the sheer delight of singing and playing along with a group of people – just like in the old days.  Music theory is taught incidentally, on a “need-to-know” basis, which satisfies almost all of our students.  As the students progress, we sprinkle in some advanced techniques for the “hot-shots” in the class, but always with a sensitivity towards those who just want to learn strumming techniques, sing and acquire a proven repertoire of songs from the various decades, old and new.  There’s NO PRESSURE  to “keep up with the Jones-es”.  It’s all for fun and you can advance at your own comfort level.  This is what the uke should be all about – a fun instrument for the masses.  But, having said that, check out our “Media” page to see some outstanding ukulele performances by people who have taken the ukulele to the highest limits.  Amazing!!
